...Something that is about to disappear soon. Sounds mystique. The first thing that comes into my mind when I think about something that will disappear from Berlin is Palast der Republik, the former seat of GDR's parliament Volkskammer. Here's a shot of the front- side. The ring in the middle was used to fix the GDR's emblem: a hammer and compasses.

Das erste woran ich denke, wenn ich überlege, was hier bald verschwindet, ist der Palast der Republik, der frühere Sitz der DDR Volkskammer. Hier ist ein Foto von der Vorderseite. Der Ring war mal dazu da, das DDR Wappen (Hammer und Zirkel) zu halten.
